Why did I decide to become a Global Scholar?

As a student, I wanted to gain the opportunity to see past the geopolitical and cultural boundaries to better understand the world and my role within it. Majoring in environmental studies and then pursuing medicine, I believe that building a global perspective on international health policies and healthcare systems will help me develop a more empathetic approach to addressing healthcare disparities closer to my community within the US. I hope that my role within the global scholars program will allow me to work towards building my cultural competency/awareness and work with communities from around the world.
