Angelica Pahamotang
Angelica Pahamotang is a History Major, concentrating in Early Modern History. She will be presenting her Senior Project, titled “The Puritan Love Story of John and Margaret Winthrop: How Their Love Letters Reflect the Dynamics of 17th-century Marriage, Women’s Roles, and Early Forms of the Colonial Postal System.”. Due to the popularity of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlett Letter, the contemporary world’s understanding of Puritan life is rigid and austere. The meaningful letters of John and his wife, Margaret, not only give insight to Puritan life but shed some light in the process of letter exchange in the 17th century.
