More About Me

Jenn Shingelo, a native of the Adirondacks in upstate NY, joined Purchase College in 2004 as a visual arts MFA student, staying on after graduation in the Art+Design office as the academic advisor from 2006-07. She returned to Art+Design as the coordinator in 2012 after 5 years at Pratt Institute as the Assistant Director of Academic Advisement. She served as the Assistant Dean of Students and Enrollment for the School of the Arts at Purchase from 2014-2020, and as director of Student Support and Academic Achievement from 2020-2021.

In addition to her work in higher education, Jennifer has exhibited her artwork in Boston and New York and she is certified to teach yoga, which she has done both at Pratt and at Purchase. She is particularly dedicated to furthering diversity, social justice and student growth and wellness. She is an active member of the Student Success Fellows Network and served as chair of the Senate’s DEIC (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee) for two years.

Currently, she enjoys hanging out with her 3rd grade daughter, going to her husband’s music performances, and learning metalsmithing in her basement from You-Tube videos.
