Gustavo Murillo Fernandez-Valdes

Gustavo Murillo Fernández-Valdés lives and works in New York. Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and raised in Barcelona, he earned a degree in Humanities from Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, was awarded a full scholarship by the “La Caixa” Foundation to earn an MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts, New York, and attended the Whitney Independent Study Program, New York.

More About Me

In his artistic practice, he looks at the technological infrastructures related to power, and explores their material aspects and social implications. He works across photography, video, animation, 3D rendering, digital compositing, vector graphics and design.

Murillo Fernández-Valdés has presented projects at P.A.D, New York; Parent Company, New York; Shirley Fiterman Art Center, New York; Artists Space, New York; Rencontres d’Arles Photography Festival, Arles; SCAN Tarragona International Photography Festival, Tarragona; Local Project, New York; Photofusion, London; and WW Gallery, London.
