Stephanie Sanchez

Stephanie Sanchez is a double major in Latin America, Caribbean, and LatinX Studies, and also Languages and Cultures. She will be presenting her senior project, titled “Public Transportation as an Agent of Modernization and Urban Order: A Study of the First Cable Cars in the State of Mexico”. In 2016, the Mexicable started operating as the nation’s first cable car system to effectively reduce travel times and improve connectivity between the peripherals of the State of Mexico to urban centers. Yet, given the regional placement of the Mexicable, areas of make-shift houses with an absent rule of law, it is possible to consider the infrastructure as conducive of government interests in otherwise unregulated areas.
