PART I: Filmed at the Neuberger Museum of Art on November 29, 2017.
Panelists Seph Rodney, staff writer and editor of Hyperallergic, and artists Tomashi Jackson and Tariku Shiferaw trace genealogies of abstraction from Romare Bearden to today’s contemporary abstract artists.
The dialogue is an extension of Rodney’s Hyperallergic article How to Embed a Shout: A New Generation of Black Artists Contends with Abstraction. The conversation was held in conjunction with the exhibition Romare Bearden: Abstraction curated by Tracy Fitzpatrick, Director of the Neuberger Museum of Art.
The exhibition was on view at the Neuberger through December 22, 2017.
