Malachai Marzolf

Major: Graphic Design

Student Leadership Position: Senior Resident Assistant of the Olde and PSGA Lead Designer

What the Nominator Had to Say: “Malachai always goes above and beyond in his position as SRA of the Olde. He is responsible and always willing to help and support his peers. He is also always willing to offer a helping hand to me, his RC, when needed.”

What is your favorite thing about being involved as a student leader on campus?

“By being a student leader, the best thing about my involvement is that I have met some of the most extraordinary and passionate people I’ve ever been fortunate enough to meet. Some of my closest friends have come from being a student leader, and I wouldn’t trade the experiences we have had together for anything.”

Why did you decide to get involved?

“Initially it was just because I was a people person. I still am, but it has grown beyond that with more positions that I take up. Now when I think about why I do what I do, I realize it is because I want to help people be comfortable in their own skin and with their own voices. Uplifting those around me has been the most gratifying part of the job and now is the reason I continue to stay involved.”

What is one piece of advice that you have for students who want to become involved on campus?

“Don’t try to be perfect. I learned very early on that there is no “perfect” person, and not everyone is going to love you. Rather than bending yourself to fit what everyone wants you to be, be authentically you; you will not only find confidence, but you will also get involved by surrounding yourself with people who love the real you.”
