Inbound Exchange Nomination and Application

Exchange Nomination

Purchase currently offers 18 short-term student exchange programs with universities around the world. Students from these partner universities must be nominated by their home campus and may attend Purchase College for one semester or a full academic year.

For questions on how to get nominated and how to apply for a short-term program, students from partner universities are encouraged to speak with the mobility or international education office on their home campus.

Exchange Application

Once you are nominated by your home campus, the International Student Coordinator will contact you to begin the application process. The process includes the following steps:

  1. A virtual meeting with the International Student Coordinator to talk about the visa process, financial documents, and life at Purchase
  2. A virtual meeting with a Purchase faculty member from your area of academic interest to discuss course availability and campus resources*
  3. Completion of the exchange application form, which asks for a personal statement, a letter of recommendation, and a portfolio (when applicable)

The application process is both an opportunity for you to ask questions and get to know Purchase, and for faculty/staff to get to know you and for both parties to determine if the exchange is a good fit.

*Due to the unique selection process in the dance exchange program, the virtual meeting is not required for dance students.
