Rachel Weiss ’16

Rachel Weiss ’16 (journalism) is a journalist who writes and produces local content for newsday.com, including stories on religion and colorful characters from Long Island, NY.

In 2020, she won an Excellence in Journalism Award from the Association of LGBTQ Journalists in the category of Excellence in Feature Writing, Non-Daily Award for a piece she wrote, “She sent 23andMe her DNA. They told her she’s intersex.”

In 2018, she was nominated for two New York Emmy Awards for her work as part of Newsday’s multimedia-reporting team that chronicled Japanese-Americans who were sent to internment camps during World War II.

She won in the “Historical/Cultural: News” category for a video she produced about Japanese internment camps.
