Open Studio: Design Quilt Portraits like Faith Ringgold
Virtual Open Studio for Kids
The Neuberger Museum of Art Education Department and teaching artist Dara Goodman introduce kids to artist Faith Ringgold. Kids will then follow along to create an art project that uses colors, lines, geometric patterns, nature images and faces to create a quilt portrait inspired by Ringgold’s work.

- Newspaper or craft paper to work on
- Large white paper
- Scissors
- Ruler (optional)
- Pencil
- Black Pen or Marker or Crayon
- Choose one for your artwork: watercolors, paints, colored pencils, markers, crayons, pastels, or colored chalk
