David Means
Born and raised in Michigan, David Means is the author of five collections of short stories, most recently Instructions for a Funeral (2019), and one novel, Hystopia(2016), which was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize. His second book of short stories, Assorted Fire Events, won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Fiction and was nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award. His fourth collection, The Spot, was selected as a 2010 Notable Book by the New York Times and won an O. Henry Prize. His stories and essays have appeared in The New Yorker, Harper’s Magazine, Esquire, Zoetrope, Best American Short Stories, and many other publications. He lives in Nyack, New York and teaches at Vassar College.
