backstory: Let’s just call it fifty
After an incredible forty-nine years—I told Lois we could just round up to fifty—so FIFTY YEARS of service to the Museum, Volunteer Museum Educator Lois Bregstein has decided to retire from the VME program.
Lois has been an integral part of the Museum and its support organizations since the earliest days of the Museum. We were so glad to be able to honor Lois at the Museum’s Golden Anniversary celebration in 2024 with the Museum’s Passionate Volunteer award. As a foundational member of the Museum Service Council, she served as the organization’s president for four years, and has served continuously as a VME since 1977, educating generations of students. Lois is also a former member of the board of the Friends of the Neuberger Museum of Art.
Please join me in congratulating Lois on her retirement and thanking her for the countless ways she has enriched the Museum and all of our lives.

Director, Neuberger Museum of Art
