backstory: Celebrating Young Artists
Each spring, the Congressional Institute and the U.S. House of Representatives invite high school students from across the country to showcase their talents in the Artistic Discovery Contest.
These young artists submit their work to be reviewed by a jury of local professionals, and winning works from each congressional district will go on to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a full year.
For a few days last week, the creative and thought-provoking work created by Congressional Art Competition participants from New York’s 16th district on the theme “Revolutionary 250” were on view at the Neuberger. And last Thursday, we were so honored to be able to again host a reception for these young artists and their friends, family, and proud supporters.
We love partnering with Congressman Latimer and the fantastic people with whom he works and supporting rising talents. And who knows — maybe someday one of these kids will have their work back on our walls?

P.S. Last Thursday was bittersweet because we also had to say a goodbye. A huge THANK YOU to Stacy Leistner and The TAGS Group for all that he and his colleagues have done for us over the last ten years! It’s been a pleasure to work with you and your team. You will be missed!
