backstory: “I ♥ ART”
Okay, perhaps today’s post is inspired in part by the upcoming weekend holiday, but this photograph has long been a favorite of mine.
When visitors gravitate toward works in the collection they love, our hope is that they will also discover something entirely unexpected nearby. Our newest installation of the ongoing collection series, Then and Now, still includes many works given by founding patron Roy R. Neuberger, but it also has lots of work I bet you’ve never seen before. Our focus this time? Sculpture. All kinds. All materials. All sizes. All shapes. It spans cultures, generations, and artistic traditions. You’ll see artists using three dimensions to question what we see and how we see it.
I’m grateful to Curator of New Media and Director of Digital Initiatives Jacqueline Shilkoff and Curatorial Assistant Rebecca Elisabeta Marya (Rem) Ribeiro for curating the show and to the many hands behind the scenes who brought the installation to life.
So, this weekend, it’s a good moment to spend time with who and what we love — art included.
