backstory: A Good Nap
I’ve never been a big fan of the idea of the “New Year’s resolution.” It’s just too steeped in ideas about success and failure for me.
Sure, January is a good time to take stock. That’s why it’s called January, named after the Roman god Janus, the one who looks forward and backward at the same time. But really, I try to do this kind of looking as a daily practice. I aim to do my best based on what I know and what I can reasonably predict.
Sometimes I succeed, and sometimes I have to try a little harder. And sometimes I just take a nap, because often, a nap is really the best strategy.
Be well.
