backstory: Something truly special
Yesterday something truly special happened in one of our galleries—special for a variety of reasons.
One of our campus yoga classes held its final session of the semester inside Proscenium, Stephen Antonakos’s monumental neon sculpture. The course is taught by our own Jessica Pozzuoli, the Neuberger’s Head of Operations and a certified yoga teacher, who leads the class alongside her administrative role at the Museum.
Embodying the sculpture in both form and spirit—literally and metaphorically framed by Proscenium—the students moved in unison, their poses and breath echoing the rhythm of the space. It was a moment of quiet power, a blend of body, awareness, and community.
This is the kind of layered, interdisciplinary experience that makes the Neuberger—and Purchase—so unique. We’re not just looking at art. We’re living in it.
