backstory: Vision and generosity
At the heart of the Neuberger lies one of our most valued and impactful assets: the Volunteer Museum Educators. These passionate individuals help bring the Museum to life, guiding visitors of all ages through the artworks on view in our galleries.
Today’s backstory celebrates Phyllis K. Lashins who, over the past twenty years, has devoted herself to the Museum Service Council as a volunteer educator and supporter of the Museum and our mission. She even served as President of the Council and as its representative on the Friends of the Neuberger Museum of Art Board.
Phyllis and her family recently established The Lashins Family Education Fund to help sustain, elevate, and inspire our VMEs in their delivery of our arts education initiatives. The new endowed fund will provide vital financial resources that empower our volunteers with the content and tools they need in order to engage all audiences, from curious pre-K-12 students to enthusiastic adults.
We are grateful to Phyllis and her family for their vision and generosity, and to all the VMEs and friends who support our educational programs and all that we do at the NEU. Anyone who would like to contribute to the fund may do so. Just let me know.
