Renovation of Mailroom & Central Receiving
Project Overview
The Mailroom and Central Receiving were in two different locations. This caused a loss in efficiencies, as the mail was delivered and sorted at one location and then moved upstairs to a second location and then placed in mailboxes. The campus community needed to go to two different locations to pick up their mail and then any packages.
To combine both functions, the project utilized currently under-developed existing spaces adjacent to the existing Central Receiving location. An existing storage room was transformed into a new Central Receiving and Mailroom space. This new space houses more mailboxes, an open concept work area for greater visibility and service, new warehouse area, allows for one-stop pickup for the community, and is an extension of the new CMFT project.
Additionally, by relocating the existing Central Receiving areas, this allowed us to then take the existing warehouse space that Central Receiving used for storing goods, and convert it into new programmable spaces for the CMFT. The new spaces include a new Black-box type performance theater, new state of the art digital mixing and screen room, dressing rooms, a new video studio, as well as a new fabrication lab. For more information see the project page for CMFT.
