Meet our “NEU Student Voices” Blogger for Spring 2021

Eve Hlavatovic is a junior at Purchase College majoring in Liberal Studies with a minor in Psychology. She has been involved in the blogging world on and off-campus and is an avid art appreciator.

Pre-pandemic, Eve could often be found seeing live shows at the Stood and spending time at the Neuberger Museum of Art. She finds the museum to be a quiet escape on campus and is excited to get back into the galleries this spring.

She is also looking forward to starting her fourth semester as a teaching assistant. Her first two positions were in the RAD Self Defense course where she collaborated with students directly as well as had open discussions on the importance of self-defense, especially to women and the LGBTQIA+ community. More recently, she worked closely with Lecturer in Psychology Dr. Carina Vocisano to aid a smooth transfer from in-person classes to Zoom sessions. She looks forward to working with Dr. Vocisano again this semester.

To keep a positive mindset throughout the pandemic, Eve “concentrated on her studies and subjects that relate to current events around the globe and across the nation.”

Off-campus, Eve is a self-taught home cook and avid baker. She created the food blog happytobehomemade.com where she enjoys creating and sharing recipes for sweet and savory treats.

Eve’s passion for writing and devotion to bringing people together became the perfect recipe for this blogger. She is thrilled to be this semester’s Communications Intern and bringing her student point-of-view to the NEU Student Voices blog.

Keep an eye out for Eve’s weekly blog posts starting next week!
