backstory: Losing a long-time friend and supporter

Over the weekend, long-time friend and supporter Toby Ritter passed away.

Both Toby and his widow Nataly have been faithful supporters of the Neuberger for many years. Nataly has served as a member of the Board of the Friends of the Neuberger Museum of Art, a museum docent, and as a trusted sounding board to me.

Toby and she supported the museum’s curatorial efforts together in many ways, not the least of which was their providing funds for our purchases of April Gornik’s Edge of the Marsh (2000-2003) and Doug and Mike Starn’s Blot Out the Sun #1 (1998-1999).

Toby will be missed by us and all who knew him in the community.
