backstory: Talking about Race

In this challenging time the Neuberger Museum of Art and the entire Purchase College community look forward to the days when we can all be together again, particularly in pockets of peace, kindness, and, most importantly, compassionate understanding.

That last part begins, as so many things do, with education. Toward that, I want to point you to a new resource just made available this week by the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture called “Talking about Race.” The site offers content for all ages and begins with the notion of what constitutes a “racialized identity.” I encourage you to check it out and share it with your kids and grandkids, because what happens in the future begins with how we teach children now.

Be safe. Be well.
