Calder from the Collection
Alexander Calder (1898-1976) is a favorite modernist, whose work has inspired generations of artists and museum-goers. The Neuberger is very fortunate to have in its collection many works by the artist ranging from sculpture, prints, and paintings, a body of work that has grown significantly since the 1970s when Roy R. Neuberger gave to the Museum the first Calder he ever purchased, an untitled gouache painting on paper that the artist created in 1944. The Museum is delighted to share a selection of these works in Calder from the Collection.
Calder from the Collection is organized by the Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase College, SUNY, and is curated by Helaine Posner, Chief Curator. Generous support for this exhibition is provided by the Friends of the Neuberger Museum of Art Exhibition Endowment and the Roy R. Neuberger Program Endowment.
