Calder from the Collection

Spring 2020

The Neuberger Museum is delighted to share a selection of works on paper by Alexander Calder (1898-1976), a favorite modernist whose art has inspired generations of artists and museum-goers.

The Neuberger is very fortunate to have in its collection many works by Calder, including sculpture, prints, and paintings. This body of work has grown significantly since the 1970s when Roy R. Neuberger gave to the Museum the first Calder he ever purchased, an untitled gouache painting on paper created in 1944.

Calder from the Collection is organized by the Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase College, SUNY, and curated by former Chief Curator Helaine Posner. Generous support for this exhibition is provided by the Friends of the Neuberger Museum of Art Exhibition Endowment and the Roy R. Neuberger Program Endowment.
