Meet Lucas Cantor

There was always a practice room available, there was always someone to jam with, and there was always a faculty member to point you in the right direction.

Lucas Cantor is a 2 time Emmy Award winner.  He’s worked in NBC’s music department for the past 9 Olympic Games.  He Co-Produced “Everybody Wants to Rule The World” with Lorde for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack.  He’s written orchestral works for iconic brands like Kenzo, Opening Ceremony, H&M and Huawei.  He’s scored films and Television shows for Netflix, Dreamworks, LucasFilm, Disney, The Wu-Tang Clan, and many others.  In 2019, he completed Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony with the help AI making him the only composer in history to collaborate with AI on full orchestral symphony.  Although only weeks old, Cantor’s (un)Finished symphony has been performed to standing ovations in London, Barcelona, Beijing, and Mexico City, with more performances to come.

When reflecting back upon his time at Purchase, Lucas said:

“At Purchase, There was always a practice room available, there was always someone to jam with, and there was always a faculty member to point you in the right direction.  I studied with several bona fide jazz legends in my time there and I still draw on those lessons in my career every day.”
