Professor Elizabeth Guffey Speaking at the DMA

Professor Guffey, director of the MA program in Modern and Contemporary Art, will be giving a talk on retro-futurism at the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) on September 15th, 2017. The event is part of a series called Late Nights, where the museum extends its hours until midnight every third Friday of each month. This month’s theme focuses on retro-futurism: society’s fascination with the past and how it is transformed into the future. Author of Retro: The Culture of Revival and Crafting Yesterday’s Tomorrow: Retro-futurism, Steampunk, and the Problem of Making in the Twenty-First Century, Professor Guffey will be elaborating on this cultural phenomenon.
