Curricular Changes at the Local Level

Curricular Changes Requiring Local/Campus Approval Only

  • Changes in the number of credits for a particular course.
  • Adding a new requirement to a program, unless this will result in a substantial cumulative credit change reflecting one-third or more of the minimum credits required for the degree (40 credits for bachelor’s degree programs) since the program was initially approved by SUNY. In this situation, SUNY approval is required and consultation with the Associate Provost’s office is needed.
  • Addition or elimination of an elective course (e.g. an upper level elective required of the major).
  • Changing the title of a course, where content remains the same.
  • Combining two courses into one course (e.g. turning two 2 credit courses into one 4 credit course), or vice versa.
