As long as the use of this different name is not for the purpose of misrepresentation, students may request that their Chosen Name be different from their legal name. The College does not allow for students to request a preferred last name. The Chosen Name is used for services such as email, appears on class/grade rosters. A student’s legal name will remain on their account and the Preferred First Name will be tied to this record. Adding a Chosen Name to your College record is not the same as a legal name change through the courts system.
