All students major in the Dance Performance BFA program. Concentrations by application include include dance performance, ballet, dance composition, and dance production.


Professional Training

The Conservatory of Dance in the School of the Arts at Purchase College is one of only a handful of conservatories in the world where you can learn what it means to be a dance professional. The opportunity provided to individuals committed to the full realization of themselves as artists is second to none.

Professional Connections

The Conservatory of Dance’s BFA program gives students a comprehensive entrée into the world of professional dance. Purchase alumni currently perform with many of the foremost international contemporary modern and ballet choreographers and companies.

They also teach, direct, and choreograph major productions, dance on Broadway, have founded companies across the globe, and are nurturing the next generation as professors in higher education.

    Purchase Dance Company’s Spring 2025 Dance Concert

    Artist Talk: This performance will be preceded by an Artist Talk at 7:15pm. This event is open to the general public.

    – Purchase Dance Company Spring 2025 Concert
    A celebration of new partnerships, a milestone anniversary, and a novel commission!

    Soar beyond with The Purchase Dance Company in an exhilarating concert of renowned repertory works and a world premiere that showcases the dynamic range of the company’s professional caliber students and reflects the Conservatory’s stature as a leading center for world-class dance training.

    We are honored to perform Alvin Ailey’s monumental ballet The River (1970), marking our first presentation of the illustrious choreographer’s work. Professor Linda Celeste Sims and Guest Artist Glenn Sims, former principal dancers with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, expertly staged the ballet.

    In another exciting first, Victor Quijada, lauded Guggenheim Fellow and Artistic Director of RUBBERBAND, will keep the audience riveted with Enter Woven (2014), an innovative contemporary work. Talented Dance Alum and RUBBERBAND company member, Daniela Jezerinac (’19), assisted with the rehearsal process.

    We are thrilled to present Paul Taylor’s Esplanade (1975) on the 50th Anniversary of this modern dance masterpiece! We welcomed the return of acclaimed Dance alum Michelle Fleet (’99), of the Paul Taylor Dance Company, who directed our students through the re-staging.

    An exciting commission for Andrea Miller, celebrated Guggenheim Fellow and Artistic Director of GALLIM, has enabled our students to be an integral part of the creative process as Miller brings her compelling artistic vision to the stage with a new contemporary piece, created expressly for this season.
