*CLOSED* The Blues: How Three Chords Became Rock & Roll

Rock & Roll exists because of The Blues. Work songs sung by slaves became the acoustic blues of the Mississippi Delta, the electrified sounds of Chicago, Memphis rhythm and blues and ultimately Rock & Roll as we know it today. Through historic recordings, videos, commentary and personal recollection, the class explores how The Blues evolved to become Rock & Roll, along the way producing (arguably) America’s greatest export, social change and technological innovation worldwide.
