The Arts Management BA empowers creative leaders.

What is Arts Management?

The Arts Management BA program provides training for anyone passionate about sharing the arts with the world. Arts managers play critical roles supporting and sustaining artists, events, and organizations devoted to creative expression.

We equip graduates with the knowledge, skills, experience, and confidence to pursue advanced study in arts management and to flourish in careers within the arts, entertainment, and other creative industries.

Is This Program Right for Me?

If you envision a career in the arts and entertainment industries empowering artists and facilitating arts production and presentation, then this program is right for you.

Students in the Arts Management program have the option to concentrate in the Music Industry or the Performing Arts.  Students can also choose to explore a variety of industry specific fields through a range of electives offered by the program and complementary programs across campus.  Students interested in gaining knowledge and experience advancing interests and careers in visual arts management are encouraged to explore the Museum Studies minor.

Alumni are active in a wide variety of management careers  across the A&E industries supporting dance and theater companies,  galleries and museums,  festival and concert venues, record labels and artist management agencies, and community arts and arts-educational service providers.

What Makes Our Program Stand Out?

A Curriculum With Room to Explore

You’ll have the space and freedom to select your focus and acquire real-world experience. The curriculum  provides a broad introduction to business models, managerial roles, and practices common to a range of arts enterprises in the nonprofit and commercial sectors. Core courses complement upper-level electives, internships, and independent-study opportunities to deepen your understanding and develop relevant skills as you put knowledge into practice. Many arts management students pursue double or dual majors.

Hands-On Preparation

We emphasize collaborating, mixing disciplines, and gaining skills through a variety of experiences to mimic the industry environments that lie ahead. With multiple opportunities built into the program, you’ll learn by doing through hands-on projects, fieldwork, and at least one required internship.

Accomplished Faculty

Our diverse and accomplished faculty represent a range of industry experience and expertise including non-profit performing arts management and entrepreneurship, arts in education, art law, and museology.

A Collaborative and Welcoming Campus

Our campus is home to four conservatories that serve as a professional training ground for artists in the visual, performing, and theatre arts. The arts scene here always buzzes with performances and creatives looking to collaborate. The arts management club is a student run forum providing opportunities right on campus to put your education in action while engaging with your community.

So Close to NYC

Our Westchester County location is flush with the opportunity for internships and career experiences in New York City—only a short commute or train ride away—or within the surrounding metro area.
