Jason Anthony Rodriguez ’12 is a Dominican-American actor and dancer born and raised in New York City’s Washington Heights and best known for the role of Lamar on Pose.

He recently co-founded Arraygency, a talent agency with a mission to elevate BIPOC, queer, and trans creative talent and bring them to the forefront of all creative industries.

He majored in arts management here and also studied dance. He was mentored by Associate Professor Emeritus of Dance Kevin Wynn and later by Dorit Koppel. He also trained under renowned voguer Benny Ninja. Rodriguez attended a campus screening of the seminal documentary Paris is Burning, which chronicles ballroom culture in the 1980s. A workshop led by Ninja followed the screening. Rodriguez was hooked.

He trained in acting at The Susan Batson Studio and was series regular Lamar in Ryan Murphy’s Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominated series Pose. He also served as the show’s movement coach for all three seasons.

“Mr. Rodriguez is a subtle scene-stealer as Lamar on the FX show ‘Pose,’” wrote Gia Kourlas in the New York Times, one of five times he was featured in the publication. He also guest-starred on the season finale of HBO’s The Deuce as Enrico.

Rodriguez has taught vogue in various institutions throughout the states. He taught internationally in the Dominican Republic, Vienna, and Japan. He’s currently a lecturer in our dance program.
