Aleeza Claire Benyona ’20 is an aspiring screenwriter.
Benyona recently earned an MFA in Screenwriting from Florida State University in 2024 where she was an instructor for an undergrad Screenwriting class.
Benyona’s feature Grapefruit was selected as a finalist in the Museum of the Moving Image and the and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation’s 2024 Sloan Student Discovery Prize. The Discovery Prize category is reserved film programs without year-round screenplay development partnerships with the Sloan Foundation.
Her feature Fan Girl earned runner-up at Out On Film: Atlanta’s LGBTQ Film Festival’s Feature Film Screenplay Competition and was a quarterfinalist in the Screencraft Comedy Competition in 2024.
Her short film Oopsie got into the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival and short story,When I Call Home, was a quarterfinalist for the Killer Shorts Horror Short Screenplay Competition. It’s currently in the top 25% of projects on Coverfly and in the Horror Short Story category of The Red List.
