Religious Affiliation

Host countries may have a predominant religion that is different than your own and your personal religious beliefs and practices may be perceived and understood differently in your host culture.

Some questions to consider and discuss with the OGE when making this decision:

1)  Does my host country have a dominant religion?  If so, what is it and how does it affect everyday life?

2)  Are there religious laws in the host country?

3)  Is there religious tolerance in the host country?

4)  Will it be safe and/or acceptable to wear religious symbols or clothing?

5)  Can I continue to practice my religion in the same manner while I am abroad?

6)  Where is a place of worship in the host city?
