Non-Traditional Students

As a non-traditional student, you typically have more responsibilities than a traditional college student.  Thus, there are some considerations that should be made when deciding to study abroad, especially with regard to program length.

Some questions to consider and discuss with OGE when considering your decision:

1)   Due to my responsibilities, what program length is a best fit for me?  A few weeks or can I realistically study abroad for a full semester?

2)   How will I address those responsibilities while abroad?  For example, will I be able to take a leave of absence from work?

3)  What housing accommodations are available at the host institution?  Are those a good fit for me?

4)  How equipped is the host institution/host culture to support my needs?

5)  How will spending a lot of time with younger students impact me?

6)  How does the host culture view adult students?

7)  Are there other non-traditional students participating on the program?

8)  What are the opportunities in the host country to develop friendships with people my age?

9)  How will studying abroad enhance my short and long term goals?
