Sarah Warren
Associate Professor of Art History
Professor Warren has taught at Purchase since 2006. Her areas of specialty are Russian Modernism and the development of Modern Craft.
Her book, Mikhail Larionov and the Cultural Politics of Late Imperial Russia, was published by Ashgate Press in 2013, and reissued by Routledge in 2016. In 2014, she curated the exhibition, This Leads to Fire: Russian Art from Nonconformism to Global Capitalism, Selections from the Kolodzei Art Foundation Collection, at the Neuberger Museum of Art.
Prof. Warren has been the recipient of awards from the Dedalus Foundation, the Clark Art Institute, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. In 2013-14, she was named the James Renwick Senior Fellow in American Craft at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Her current research examines the relationship between craft revivals and the development of counterculture communities in the Northeast.
