Peggy Stafford is a Brooklyn-based playwright whose works include Everything is Here, Ambulette: A Non-Emergency Vehicle, Behind the Attic Wall, 16 Words or Less, Motel Cherry, Jewel Casket, and Three Miracles and a Giant. Her plays have been produced and developed at theatres such as 59E59, Clubbed Thumb, New Georges, Page 73, HERE, Soho Rep, Women’s Project, Playwrights Horizons, Two River, Bottom’s Dream, Annex Theatre, Circle X, On the Boards, Seattle Children’s Theatre, The Tank, and The Playhouse in Derry, Northern Ireland.
Her short film, adapted from 16 Words or Less, received the Best First Short Film Award at the Boden International Film Festival in Sweden, the First Time Filmmaker Award at LA Indies, and Best Short Film at the Durgapur International Film Festival in West Bengal.
More About Me
Peggy is Chair of the Playwriting Program and Assistant Professor of Playwriting at SUNY Purchase. In 2021, she created and launched the study abroad program The Role of the Artist in Peacebuilding in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She has also taught playwriting at the University of Rochester’s International Theatre Program, Juniata College’s Gravity Project, and Marymount Manhattan College.
