Yoon Lee

Lecturer of Music

The Special Prize winner of the Anton G. Rubinstein International Piano Competition, Dr. Yoon Lee, is a solo pianist, chamber musician, teacher, and entrepreneur, active in the New York metropolitan area. Her performance of Beethoven has been described as “equal to Beethoven’s virtuosic demands” by New York Concert Review. A pianist characterized by her grounded interpretations and solid sound, Yoon Lee has been on the stages of Carnegie Hall, The Greene Space at WQXR, Alice Tully Hall, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Masterclasses, Château de Fontainebleau, the Schumann-Haus Museum in Leipzig, Hamarikyu Asahi Hall, and Seoul Arts Center in addition to many other stages in the New York, Europe, and Asia. Her live performances have been featured on WQXR, America’s leading classical radio station in New York, and KBS, the national television station of South Korea. Yoon Lee has appeared as a soloist with Carl Maria von Weber Orchestra of Dresden, Germany, Camerata Forum Internacional in Torrelodones, Spain, and Prime Philharmonic, Korea.

As an avid chamber musician, Yoon Lee has taught chamber music at Manhattan School of Music Precollege division, Kneisel Hall Adult Chamber Music Institute, and Heifetz International Music Festival. Yoon Lee has performed as a guest artist in the Eat, Drink, and Be Literary Series at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in NYC, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival in Maine, Heifetz International Music Institute, and Cayuga Chamber Concert Series, among others. She was the pianist of Noree Piano Trio, a piano trio who won the title of Honor’s Piano Trio from the prestigious Juilliard School and performs as the representative of the school. As a collaborative pianist, Yoon Lee has been the pianist for master classes and studios by masters such as Itzhak Perlman, Leonidas Kavakos, Steven Isserlis, Frans Helmerson, David Geringas, Ida Kavafian, and Pamela Frank.

Yoon has served as a member of judge at Manhattan School of Music’s Precollege Piano Concerto Competition, Chamber Music Competition, NFMC Junior Music Festival, and YMF Schubert Club. Her interests in other forms of art have led her to be involved with Noree Performing Arts, where she serves as a Principal Dancer and the Music Director.

Yoon received Doctor of Musical Arts from Manhattan School of Music and a Graduate Diploma from The Juilliard School. Yoon Lee is a member of the faculty of SUNY Purchase College and Heifetz International Music Festival, as well as the Staff Pianist of The Juilliard School. She is an Artistic Director of Noree Chamber Soloists.
