Garnier is a 2008 honors graduate of Queens College, where he created the nationally-ranked dance team, for which he serves as head coach. He went on to earn an MFA in choreography from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College.

He has also performed with and choreographed for several artists under the Sony label. In 2011, Garnier put his expertise to use as choreographer and styler for the 2011 Latin Billboard Awards.
