Simona Cipriani

Lecturer of Dance

Simona Cipriani studied at the Juilliard School and earned her BFA in dance from Purchase College, where she now directs the Art of Control®. She has studied extensively with Romana Kryzanowska at Drago’s Gym in New York City, where she taught by Romana’s side. A former dancer for more than 25 years, Cipriani started performing at the age of 14 in Italy. She has performed in Europe and the United States, and appeared frequently as a dancer on television and in commercials. She presented The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning on television as well.

Cipriani travels in Europe and the U.S. teaching the Authentic Pilates Method. She has taught a series of workshops in Rome, Italy, and has co-written two articles with Dr. Joseph E. Muscolino on Pilates (Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies).

A licensed massage therapist in Connecticut and New York State, Cipriani is also a Feldenkrais practitioner and was selected to assist athletes as a massage therapist at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. She has been teaching at Purchase College since 2006 in the Physical Education Department, Conservatory of Dance, and the School of Liberal Studies & Continuing Education. In her studio, besides private and group classes, she also offers the USPA Teachers Certification Program and the Purchase College Pilates Mat Teachers Certification Program for all students.
