Summary
Nora Beckett, a hostess at Rolling Roulette casino, and a woman ahead of her time, navigates capitalistic corruption and business dealings fueled by greed in her city. Despite the societal constraints placed upon her, she refuses to be confined to the role instated on her through misogynistic stereotypes, mainly through her employer, Angus Martelli, founder of Rolling Roulette. Amid the consumption Nora endures, she meets Irene, a local sex worker, and Edmund Whitmore, a new general manager of the casino, whom she does not know if she fully trusts. However, it is through Nora’s relationship with the two that she uncovers a secret the casino is being used to cover up. Nora embraces the chaos of the Roaring Twenties, using her charm and cunning to carve out her own path in a world dominated by men.
