Leaves of three, let them be!
Poison Ivy is very common at Purchase College. Eastern poison ivy is typically a hairy, ropelike vine with three shiny green leaves budding from one small stem. They can be on the side of the road, along paths through the woods, climbing up trees, and near streams.
Poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac release an oil from the leaf or other plant parts. This oil is an irritant to the skin and may cause and itchy red rash with bumps or blisters. The fluid from these blisters will not spread rash or other blisters to you or another person.
