Faculty Member Wins NYPPA Photography Award

Lecturer David Handschuh wins two prestigious New York Press Photographers Association Awards.


Photojournalism adjunct instructor David Handschuh won first and third place in the 2023 Face of New York category of the prestigious New York Press Photographers Association’s 89th annual photography and multimedia contest.

His first-place entry, Nostalgia Train, depicts a man sleeping on a downtown subway platform as the collection of subway cars dating back to the 1920s departs the station.

Selfie Blues earned third place in the same category, which features two people taking selfies near the Lincoln Center fountain on a rainy evening.

An award-winning photographer, writer, videographer, and editor, Handschuh teaches photojournalism, epitomizing the working professionals who teach at Purchase.
