Admissions Year in Review

Here’s a review of Admissions activities for 2022–2023.

It was an exceptional year in the Admissions office, and we are excited to welcome a very diverse class guaranteed to bring their unique talents and experiences to our community!

While deposits will be ongoing throughout the summer, currently we will be welcoming 987 students from our record 10,957 applicants for fall 2023. Of the 987 students, 958 represent our incoming freshmen and transfer students. (As of 5-8-2023)

Some highlights of our class include:

  • Highly engaged students! We have a plethora of artists, athletes, and activists joining us for the fall 2023 semester.
  • An all-time high of application numbers across all majors
  • Goal-breaking deposits in several programs, especially within the School of the Arts
  • 9% of deposited students receiving a scholarship this year

The Admissions team would love to thank our campus partners for their hard work and support throughout this cycle. Outside of the records our students set, we had wonderful attendance and new initiatives throughout the season including:

  • 8,684 calls completed as a part of call campaigns by the Admissions Team
  • Over 7,000 families were welcomed to campus this year through a variety of events held
  • Over 11,000 text messages sent and received by our students
  • Faculty phone calls by our Schools of Humanities and Natural and Social Sciences
  • 31 attendees at our inaugural Scholarship Event in February
  • 78 Test drives scheduled throughout the spring semester
  • 683 families attended our two Accepted Student Day events
    • Earlier SOA decisions led to 25% of our attendees representing the School of the Arts programs across the two days

While we are thrilled at the success of this year’s recruitment cycle, we caution the campus community to remember that we are still amidst an enrollment recovery period. We encourage everyone to celebrate the work done this year and to get some rest this summer to prepare for the work needed to be done next year to ensure the same success.
