Tis the Season to Make an Impact

This holiday season, we’re going to try something a little different.

In years past, November is the time when we gear up as a community to promote and donate to Thanksgiving food drives and holiday toy drives.

This year, we’re redirecting those efforts in support of our students. Instead of buying those extra cans of food or those few extra toys, we ask you to donate to the Make an Impact Fund for students.

The Make an Impact Fund is a vital source of support for students facing severe financial crises such as medical emergencies, the death or illness of a family member, or any other life-altering experience. This includes unemployment directly related to the coronavirus. Grants from the fund ensure that students can stay in school and remain focused on their education when no other financial resources exist.

Gift Multiplier

Every donation made from will go toward a SUNY matching gift initiative, the State Emergency Fund Challenge. If we collectively raise $17,500, (or 35% of $50,000), SUNY will make a matching gift to our Make an Impact Fund.

“The PSC is encouraging the spirit of giving we typically show this time of year, but with a new focus on our students who may find themselves in particular need because of everything 2020 has thrown at them,” says Wellness Counselor Robbie Morrell, who’s spearheading the effort.

“We’re proud of our ability to come together as a community to help others and this year it’s more important than ever for those of us in a position to do so to make a difference.”
