The Second Annual Staff Development Conference

On Thursday, June 6, 2019 the Professional Staff Council offered the second annual staff development conference to its membership. For the second time the SUNY Institute for Academic and Innovative Leadership (SAIL) was invited to campus to put on a daylong conference on Emotional Intelligence (EI). 115 professional staff members spent the morning learning about EI, assessing their individualized reports, and connecting EI skills to effective leadership and better performance. Attendees were joined for lunch by former President Tom Schwarz and members of the Cabinet and Management Confidential.

After everyone had a well-deserved break, the afternoon was focused on improving self-awareness and relationships with an exercise in collaboration. At the end of the day attendees were able to walk away with a newly discovered personal mission statement and a better understanding of EI and its effects in the work place.

This day was made possible through the hard work of many including JeanMarie Garofolo and her committee, the executive board of the PSC, and Osbourne Hoilett from Chartwells Catering.
