SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being

This art piece was created to challenge societal norms and advocate for inclusivity. At its core, the piece serves as a visual narrative, featuring a girl with cerebral palsy passionately engaged in her love for cooking and utilizing specially adapted tools tailored to her unique needs. This portrayal deliberately confronts conventional notions of “normal,” inviting viewers to reconsider preconceived ideas about abilities and limitations. In celebrating the diverse spectrum of abilities, the art piece aligns seamlessly with SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-Being, urging society to embrace and support individuals with disabilities in their pursuit of passions and interests.

The art not only challenges norms but also encourages a reevaluation of the importance of autonomy and independence for individuals with disabilities. The girl’s use of adapted tools highlights the significance of accommodating diverse needs while conveying the message that seeking assistance when necessary is not a sign of weakness but a testament to strength. This narrative aligns with the broader goal of community building and collaborative support, fostering an environment where it is not only acceptable, but also encouraged to ask for help. In the realm of good health, this aspect contributes to mental well-being by promoting a sense of belonging and reducing the potential for isolation.

Dedicated to the BRIDGE School near Purchase College, this piece was donated as a reminder to the children and adults that their dreams and aspirations are not limited by physical abilities. It symbolizes the belief in equal opportunities and serves as an inspiration for the students, reinforcing the idea that their unique talents and passions are valuable contributions to society.
