The benefits of yoga and meditation are numerous and include stress reduction, increased Mindfulness, and being more at peace with your body, mind, self and purpose. We offer free classes and groups to all students on a drop-in basis at the Harbor Center. Our groups help students get connected, build community, and relax.
9:00-12:00pm: Drop-in Meditation Space.
1:00-2:00pm: Espresso Yourself (Peer led event).
6:30-7:30 pm: MELT Method (Intramurals from Athletics Department).
6:00-7:00pm: Peer Support Recovery Meeting (Peer led event).
MELT: Designed to reconnect the whole-body communication, rebalance the nervous system, rehydrate the connective tissue, and release compression in joints using specialized techniques including soft body rollers and balls.
Espresso Yourself: Refuel your mind and body with free coffee and a calming journaling session each week. Together, we’ll explore mindful prompts designed to help you reflect, recharge, and find balance in your busy college life.
TNT (Tea ‘n Talk): A welcoming atmosphere rooted in respect, support, and authenticity that curates an opportunity to build new connections and expand your community on campus. Slow down, sip intentionally, and learn how tea can become a self-care tool.
Slow Flow Yoga: Mindful yoga poses for strength, flexibility, and a deeper mind-body connection. Each pose is held for a few breaths and flows into the next to help cultivate a sense of a moving meditation.
Human Voices: A health promotion, peer run, empowerment-based group that helps to provide a foundation for all students that believe their voices should be heard, by creating positive dialog in a restorative talk circle each session.
Mindful Movement and Meditation: Fosters a tranquil environment, allowing you to move and meditate in a restorative way. This practice aims to help to relax and soothe the mind.
Let’s Talk: A supportive, drop-in time delegated for first year students! Adjusting to college is a daunting task and we’re here to support you. This space will be used to communicate difficulties, successes, unknowns, and more relating to the transition to college and start of your adult life. Drop in, meet some new people, relate about your shared experiences, and remember you can do this!
What’s the Major Deal?: This peer event strives to unite the Purchase College student body regardless of majors, personal differences and more. The goal is to leave the event feeling more connected with your peers and break barriers that sometimes exist between different majors.
Colorful Connections: Join us for a relaxing, no-pressure art session where creativity meets connection! Whether you want to collaborate, sketch solo, or simply doodle your stress away, Colorful Connections is your space to unwind and express yourself.
Knit, Crochet, Relax: Dr. Shanaz Moudud hosts. Sit back, breathe, sip tea and hot chocolate, and listen to music as you unwind and create in a meditative space. Bring your own teacup and supplies if you have them.
Paint the Pantry: Get together with peers and friends to create a community art piece- a mural in the food pantry! Students will contribute their own visual depictions of topics related to food and health and wellbeing. Each drawing will be added to a collage painted by students on the food pantry wall. Open to all majors!
Peer Support Recovery Meeting: A peer-led group support for those seeking connection and community through conversations about personal struggles with substance use and/or addiction. This meeting will seek to provide Purchase students a space to talk/hear from their peers about struggles with substances/addiction, with the intention of having an outlet to speak honestly and support each other toward positive behavior change.
