Embrace your distinctive writing voice and write your story. Begin by reading and discussing classic and contemporary personal essays and works of memoir, autobiography, and autofiction. Craft and workshop original personal essays and explore pathways to expand your work into full-length memoir manuscripts.

Unlock your inner artist! Explore patterns found in nature. Use diverse mediums, from the precision of ink and pencil to the vibrancy of watercolors and color pencils to create original captivating mandalas, monograms, abstracts, and nature art. Each session consists of an art example share, a guided demo of a specific technique, independent art-making, and an end-of-class art display.

Noncredit
Inspired by works from the Neuberger’s collection, explore drawing and painting using watercolor pencils as tools for personal storytelling. Through mini demonstrations learn to create artwork that reflects your aesthetic, emotional, intellectual, and/or spiritual response to museum art. Novice or skilled participants, experience the joy of translating your emotional and sensory responses to art into a deeply personal visual narrative.

Who Can Register?

Noncredit courses offered by the School of Continuing Education are open to anyone qualified to do college-level work. Proficiency in English is required.

Adults with a high school diploma or its equivalent and visiting students from other colleges. .
High school students who are at least 16 years old and who have the ability to do college-level work may enroll in noncredit adult courses with parental permission and at the discretion of the School of Continuing Education Appeals Committee.
Purchase College matriculated students may enroll (excluding the noncredit option in credit courses). To guarantee space in a noncredit course, Purchase matriculated students need to register early and pay the full noncredit tuition.
Students who register for noncredit courses do not receive college credit or grades.

What is the Cost?

In addition to the tuition, there is a $25 nonrefundable registration fee paid once per semester.

What is the Refund Policy?

To drop or withdraw from a noncredit course, students must submit a completed and signed add/drop form.
The refundable tuition amount (excluding nonrefundable fees) is based on the tuition refund schedule and determined by the date the add/drop form is received.
No refunds can be granted for any reason (including illness or other medical reasons) after the periods listed in the tuition refund schedule.

What are the Online Partners: Course Policies?

Noncredit courses offered by our online partners are not eligible for the early registration discounts, Purchase College student, employee, or alumni discounts. Each partner has its own cancellation and refund policies (School of Continuing Education policies do not apply). Please contact the provider directly for information on course cancellations and refunds.
