Volunteer Opportunities
We are always looking for passionate and adaptable volunteers to help with all of the projects happening on campus! Volunteer opportunities are open to faculty, staff, and students. It’s a great way to meet people across campus and do something good for the environment.
Sustainability Student Groups and Campus Committees
Outdoors Club
Outdoors Club is a group of students who share a passion for getting out in nature! This club consists of trips to nearby hiking destinations such as Bear Mountain, Hudson Highlands, and also beautiful parks within the Westchester area.
Reproductive Justice Garden (C.O.P.E.)
COPE is an organization focused on providing a safe place Female and AFAB students at SUNY Purchase and the info hub for the Reproductive Garden located in front of the Visual Arts building.
NYPIRG (New York Public Interest Group)
New York Public Interest Research Group, NYPIRG is the largest student directed advocacy nonprofit in the state. Founded by New York’s student activists in 1976, we work to put the student voice at the forefront of New York’s democracy while empowering our campus community through education and action.
Food Recovery Network (FRN)
Our FRN chapter, a student-led program, seeks to fight food waste and hunger by recovering perishable food from on-campus dining locations that would otherwise go to waste. After on-campus events, left over food is recovered and stored in a communal refrigerator that any campus community member may access.
Green Leadership Opportunities for Students
Students can also get involved in the SUNY Purchase Student Government Association’s sustainability projects, including paid service director positions as Student Sustainability Coordinator, SwapShop Director, and Compost Master. Find more information about the PSGA on PantherLink.
Campus Senate Sustainability Committee
Comprised of faculty, staff, and students, the Sustainability Advisory and Outreach Committee works to establish a culture of environmental stewardship as a fundamental practice and priority for SUNY Purchase, both immediately and for the future. Anyone is welcome to attend the monthly meetings.
