Thomas E. Franklin
Thomas E. Franklin is an award-winning photojournalist, multimedia journalist, documentary filmmaker, and educator. He is best known for his September 11, 2001 photograph of three firefighters raising the U.S. flag at Ground Zero, an image later featured on the U.S. Postal Service’s Heroes stamp. A finalist for the 2002 Pulitzer Prize, Franklin spent more than two decades at The Record and NorthJersey.com and now serves as an associate professor of multimedia journalism at Montclair State University. His recent projects examine immigration, forced migration, and community life through photography and documentary film.
