Giancarlo Montes Santangelo ’18

Giancarlo Montes Santangelo is an artist and photographer from the Washington, DC, metropolitan area whose practice combines photographs and writing to examine embodiment, place, and ways of seeing. His photographs were included in the 2019 Whitney Biennial alongside Paul Mpagi Sepuya. In 2020, Monolith Editions published his first monograph, Improvising Sight Lines, now held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art. He has received support from the Aperture x Google Creator Labs Photo Fund and completed residencies with Tangent Projects and TILT Institute for the Contemporary Image.
